AQS Daytona Quilt Show

I got to spend some time at the AQS show in Daytona Beach last month.  I thought you’d enjoy seeing a few of the quilts.

    Fenella Davies’s quilt is dramatic.
    Thanks for sharing.

Great texture and composition, right? I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I just saw the Melissa Sobotka collection yesterday at AQS Lancaster, PA. and took a photo of the same one you did (End of the Spin). I particularly appreciated that the collection spanned from her earliest quilts (2007?) to the present so we could see the evolution. We all should do a similar reflective retrospective through our own work to feel better when we feel stagnant!

Her display got me thinking along the same lines, Candy. When I saw them, they were arranged according to color and subject. I would have really enjoyed seeing them in chronological order. Like you, I was looking for connections and evolution. There’s no doubt about her work being extraordinary.
