Art Swap

“Paper paintings” artist, Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson, and I have recently swapped commissioned work with one another.  This is my Cupcake piece from Elizabeth. Click any image for a larger view. Oh, I’m a lucky girl, because I LOVE this little collage!  (It’s 12″ x 12″.) Elizabeth’s work is created exclusively with collage.  She uses […]

Bouquet of Circles

After transforming my ugly circles quilt into a vase, I needed something to go in it.  Something circular, of course.  And here it is, a fabric vase filled with a bouquet of sheer circle “flowers.”  Click any image for a larger view. I’m pretty happy with this.  What do you think? After getting the folds […]

Reworking My Circles Challenge

Last month, I finished a small challenge quilt, which required significant use of circles.  I (mostly) enjoyed the process, but I have to say that I was NOT happy with my results.  Oh well.  You win some and you lose some, right? But then, I got to thinking I might like to transform this ugly […]

Sticky Fingers Demo Results

I had great fun giving a demonstration of my “sticky fingers” (glued collage technique) on Saturday.  There were a couple of small challenges: – My easel broke just as I set it up.  No worries.  My helper, Linda, became my “easel.”  She was very supportive.  (Get it?  I couldn’t resist.) – Thanks to a sore […]

More Note Cards

Did I mention that these cards are addicting?  Since I had the appropriate collection of materials out in front of me, I thought I might as well make a few more of these.  With this group, I enjoyed adding the complementary color of blue and I tried out some hand stitching. Click any image for […]

Tips: Making Note Cards

Would you like to make your own note cards?  They’re fast, easy, and a great way to use little scraps of paper, fabric, and novelty items. Start by painting the paper for the card bodies.  Select a fairly heavy paper that can handle getting very wet.  Paper intended for Watercolor or Wet Media is a good choice.  A size of […]

Breaking News – Melbourne, FL Demo March 13th

At the last minute, I’ve agreed to do a demonstration of my “Sticky Fingers” glued collage technique at an upcoming quilt show in Melbourne. I love to do this sort of thing, and hope to see many of you there. Here’s an example of the kind of collage I’ll be showing.  Click any image for […]

Note Cards

Whenever I need a fast or portable project, I often turn to making note cards.  They’re quick and easy and recipients always love them. Here are some that I made recently.  Click any image for a larger view. The one above includes: – Painted background paper, – A small piece of silk, – Lightly painted […]
