Mountain Glen Update
When I posted about the house my brother is restoring it was one of my most popular posts ever! So, I thought you’d like an update on this home in rural Virginia.
It’s called Mountain Glen, was built around 1860, and is located on a farm my brother bought. Initially he repaired just the basics, like the roof, but is now refurbishing it. (Not actually restoring it, since it won’t be exactly like the original.)
This is the exterior, where some structural improvements have been made. Painting will probably be the last thing.

The rooms are LARGE, with most of the original woodwork in excellent condition.

This will probably be a living room, since it’s at the front of the home.

Across the hall/(giant foyer) is this room.

All the rooms have lovely views of the pastures, (but usually with cows in sight.)

The stairway has really nice woodwork details. And notice the gorgeous original floors throughout.

The kitchen has been improved.

And there’s a butler’s pantry between the kitchen and the dining room.

Here’s another upstairs bedroom. Check out those TALL windows, and the views.

It’s really looking beautiful. But, I didn’t show you what I consider to be the most interesting thing about this home: the HUGE foyer/hall. BE SURE to check it out in the original post!

Thanks for sharing. That house reminds me of the one you grew up in!
