Muslin, main fabrics, accent fabrics, emb. floss, matching threads, strip of fusible web, 5 x 7 cutout,
Quantities listed will make one note. However, you may have time to make two.
- Muslin, about 7 x 9
- Batting, about 7 x 9
- Small fabric scraps for creating your collage. Perhaps you’d like to select a variety of fabrics in one main color and then another few in an accent color. See the samples for inspiration.
- A paper or cardboard “window”, 5 x 7. Cut this from a manilla folder or staple strips together. Make sure the opening is 5″ x 7″
- Thread to match all colors
- Embroidery floss in contrasting colors
- One strip of fusible web, 6 x 1 ½. Teflon or silicone sheet for pressing fusibles.
- General sewing supplies, including a needle with an eye large enough for 2 strands of embroidery floss
- Painters tape or masking tape
- Ruler
- Double-sided tape
- 8 x 10 frame with glass and mat board. Most combinations like this have the mat board cut with an 5 x 7 opening. That’s fine. OR the frame can be see-through with no mat. See example below.
- Your home sewing machine! Stitching can be done with the feed dogs engaged, as with standard sewing. Or free motion stitching can be used. If sewing with the feed dogs engaged, a walking foot is highly recommended.
