Shipping Work to a Show: Bedford, VA
I’m very excited to have a solo show coming up soon, in Bedford, VA!
It’s been A LOT of work to prep, pack, and ship the 31 pieces that will be on display. And somehow things always take longer than I expect. Still, a GOOD reason to be busy!
I’ve recently changed my hanging sleeve and slat set up. As a result, I had to rework the sleeves and the slats on 22 quilts. Whew!

Once I had the quilts completed and cleaned, it was time to roll them up for shipping. I grouped them by width and ended up with five good sized rolls.

Plus, I’ll be showing some wired Croton leaf pieces, called collectively, A Croton Story. Each piece is named Chapter One, etc. They got thoroughly wrapped in bubble wrap.

I’m sending an interactive thing which I hope will be interesting to viewers. It’s a scavenger hunt, of sorts, asking participants to find where a particular fabric scrap was used in the exhibit. I hope it will be fun and not laborious!

The director is planning an event for children and will also use this activity with them. At his request I’ve coded them on the back, so he’ll know where each one was used.
Finally, everything was ready to be boxed up. That was a good feeling.

The box was HUGE! A friend who had bunk beds shipped to her saved the box for me. It was 80″ long, by 12″ x 12″. Once loaded it weighed 36 pounds and it wouldn’t even fit in my car! Hubby to the rescue with his truck.

I was SO happy to get them shipped! The exhibit opens on the 19th, with the opening reception on the 22nd. I’m REALLY looking forward to it!

If you’re in Southwest VA I hope to see you there!
