Image - Flamenco dancerAwesome Opening Night

How often have you been to the opening of an art exhibit and seen a flamenco dancer perform? The classical guitar music, soft beat, and twirling dancer were wonderful, (and unexpected) additions at the recent opening of Art-chi-Texture, in Melbourne, FL. The music was soothing and the dancer was mesmerizing. During her brief performance, she OWNED that room!

The Art-chi-Texture exhibit is a three-person one, in which I'm included. In addition to fabulous music and dancing, the opening reception included excellent attendance, great food, and lots of lively conversation. I was thrilled to discover that one of my pieces, Whispered Prayers, had sold before the price stickers were even posted!

The photo at left shows Alba Irlanda, of Trio Flamenco, working her magic in front of works by Fred Samuelson and Russ Taylor.

The exhibit runs through July 19th. You can find full details on the Quits on Tour page.

Fun Online Classes

I'm REALLY enjoying teaching online! I'm finding that my students and I interact almost as much as we would in a live classroom situation. It's a lot of fun - for all of us - and the students are making some amazing quilts! I've posted quite a few new examples in the Student Instant Art Quilt Gallery. Check out Elaine Koenig's quilt (below.) Isn't it great?Image - Elaine Koenig

I guess the word is getting out about my online classes, because they're filling quickly. I'll always keep you posted about them via this newsletter. (You can subscribe at the bottom, if you'd like.) However, I also keep notification lists for each individual class. People on these lists get advance notice, before I announce the class publicly. If you're interested in such notice, go to the e-Learning section of my website, follow the links for the various class descriptions, and then click on the link for notification.

New Work

Ta-Da! I finished Ti Plants A-Glow-Glow, shown at left. Last month, I posted a photo essay which explained the inspiration and design process for this quilt, as well as my collage technique. This month, I've added Part Two of that essay, showing how I auditioned borders and finished the quilt.

In addition, I've found that many people are unfamiliar with how easy it is to hang and clean fiber art. Therefore, I've included a brief article, explaining this.
