Learn on Your Own Schedule

Isn't this little guy cute? His name is Baxter and he's represented in Diane Hamburg's recent quilt. She did a fantastic job!

To capture his adorable face, Diane used my Double Reverse Applique TM technique. But, she didn't take a class with me. Instead, she learned the technique by reading my Double Reverse Applique e-book. After making the apple project, she quickly started designing her own projects, and emailed me with this comment:

"Ellen, your ebook Double Reverse Applique was fantastic.  Thanks for a superb job of passing on your technique."

What's an e-book? It's a book which is provided in the form of a computer file. You download it to your computer, from the internet. You can read it on your computer or print the pages, using ink-friendly options. One of the great things about e-books is that they're immediately downloadable, so you can be learning in minutes. Plus, they're less expensive than typical books. And, like any book, they allow you to progress at your own pace.

Perhaps an e-book would suit your learning style. (I also offer one about color.) You'll find more information about e-books and my selection here.

Sticky Fingers Class
Starting September 24th

I really enjoy working with glued collage, becaues it's extremely fast and fun! Once the design is composed, there's no need to quilt it, add a binding, etc. Plus, it's possible to work with tiny bits of fabric which are too small to easily sew.

You'll have a chance to learn the technique when the next class starts on September 24th.

One of the class samples, Cruciform #4, is shown at right.

New Work: More Hand Stitching

Image - cream stitching and beading on rust, detail
I did it again: more hand stitching. As before, I had lots of fun layering stitches and beads, this time limiting the palette to cream and tan.

See the detail shot at left, and the finished and framed version below.

I don't have a title for it yet. It sort of makes me think of a line of foamy surf, filled with little tidbits and jewels from the sea. Any suggestions?
