Image - pink ti plants on dark green backgroundWant to interpret a favorite photo as a quilt? And to learn about design? Then "Design Your Own Nature Quilt" is just what you need. This one-day class will take you all the way from uncertain beginner to confident designer, and you'll go home with a fabric composition ready to sew.

Find full class details here, but first, check out the awesome results other students have achieved.

BTW, this is my favorite class to teach, because the students gain so much skill!

Art Where You Find It

On a recent vacation, I visited an art supply store. After a few minutes I was ANXIOUS to make art! But, I hadn't packed any art materials so I bought a little glue, paint, precut support papers, and a foam brush. Then, I grabbed all the free flyers, catalogs, and brochures in the store and headed off for some PLAY.

Why the freebies? I wanted to use them as materials for a collage. Perhaps my subject will give you an idea about my location.

Gee, that was fun!

If you look carefully at the detail shot, you might find more clues about our destination.

Double Reverse Applique Class
Starts Online August 19th

My Double Reverse Applique class is the most popular one I teach. The killer apple project (at right) seems to have a lot to do with it. In addition, students find the technique very useful, since it's both accurate and easy. (It's great for portraits and such.)

Class starts August 19, 2011.

What's New

I'm finishing up my commission barn quilt , experimenting with white paint, and playing with sheer paper.

Do you know about the SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) fund raising auction?  Oh, it’s phenomenal!  Hundreds of artists have donated quilts approximately 12″ x 12″ which will be auctioned online in batches. There are six pages, starting here.  Enjoy.

You can always read about my work in-progress on my blog. You can also see the SAQA auction quilt made by Martha Wolfe.

I hope you're enjoying your own unique quilt making adventure!
