Natural Progression, © 2009, 37½ x 24, Sold As part of a unique exhibit, I was paired with poet Marcia Denius for what was designed to be a very loose collaboration. As a result of this pairing, we decided to use the word transition as a springboard for new work. I was stumped for an idea, until I was picking Black Eyed Susans. (Only the perfect blossoms, of course.) While doing so, I noticed that the tattered flowers were also interesting. Finally, I spotted the seed heads and then it hit me: transition was right in front of me. Cotton fabrics, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, water soluble wax pastels, oil pastels, marker. Raw edge collage and machine stitching. |
