"Love It and Leaf it" class sample. Ellen Lindner, AdventureQuilter.com

Current class sample, Ellen Lindner

  • Unfused fabrics: dark background fabric – 2 pieces, each 8 ½ x 11
  • Fused fabrics: dark background fabric – 7 x 9
  •      Leaf fabrics, 1 or 2 for each color – yellow, yellow-orange, yellow-green,  orange, and red. (The sample was made with one fabric for each leaf. However, two fabrics per leaf can be used. This will add variety and will only slow you down a little.) Reference the pattern for sizes.
  • Batting, about 10 x 13
  • Thread to match all colors, plus black
  • One strip of fusible web, 8 x 1 ½. Teflon or silicone sheet for pressing fusibles.
  • General sewing supplies, including temporary marking pencils for both light and dark fabrics. The light marking tool should not iron off.
  • Paper scissors
  • Painters tape or masking tape
  • Ruler
  • Double-sided tape
  • Light box or other easy tracing set up
  • 11 x 14 frame with glass and mat board. Most combinations like this have the mat board cut with an 8 x 10 opening. That’s fine.
  • Your home sewing machine! Stitching can be done with the feed dogs engaged, as with standard sewing. Or free motion stitching can be used. If sewing with the feed dogs engaged, a walking foot is highly recommended.
