“The Way it Goes” Complete
I did it: I made a quilt with (mostly) subdued colors. Here it is, The Way it Goes.
The Way it GoesThe background was made improvisationally, but the gold shapes were added with (mostly) conventional pattern making. (It turns out the two methods are a little tricky to use together.) But, I’m very happy with it.
I used some great commercial fabrics, along with my own hand dyes. Do you see the white “hand stitching” around the large circles in the fabric below? That’s actually part of the print of the fabric.

I just love using such interesting fabrics!

Oh, and this is what it would look like if installed in a modern setting. Nice, right?

I’m planning to do lots of quilt-making in 2026 and I hope you’ll also spend lots of time doing what you enjoy. Happy new year!
