“Cantilever” Complete

I’ve really had fun working on my latest quilt, Cantilever.Cantilever, an art quilt by Ellen Lindner. AdventureQuilter.com

It was exciting to exclusively use fabrics I’ve printed/dyed myself. I was very happy with the way they worked together.

Here’s a detail shot.

I love the imperfection and irregularity of these hand dyed fabrics!

This piece is available for purchase. See details here.

I’m already working on the next piece!

As always, your colors are an orchestra! This piece is unified and bold. I’m wondering if these fabrics are as soft since they have color applied. I like the repetition of circles. Well done.

      Hi Beth,

Having my quilt compared to an orchestra is high praise. Thank you.

Good question about the softness/hand of the dyed fabric. With dye there is no change to the feel of the fabric. That’s because dye chemically bonds to the molecules of the fabric. Even when using thickened dye as I do, only the color changes. The thick mixture washes away easily and the fabric feels as it always did.
