Art Swap

“Paper paintings” artist, Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson, and I have recently swapped commissioned work with one another.

This is my Cupcake piece from Elizabeth.

Oh, I’m a lucky girl, because I LOVE this little collage!  (It’s 12″ x 12″.)

Elizabeth’s work is created exclusively with collage.  She uses a variety of papers, some of them hand painted before use.  Check out these fantastic details:

Guess what:  I’m now planning to redecorate my kitchen to accommodate this “paper painting.”  What do you think of soft blue-green walls?

Thankfully, Elizabeth is equally delighted with her piece from me.  (Although I haven’t heard anything about redecorating.)  It’s called Cosmo Duet #2, shown below.

What a wonderful way to add to our art collections!

I absolutely love my Cosmo piece! I think my husband would kill me if I asked him to redecorate our kitchen in hot pink, hm? Being an artist, with a photographer for a husband, you can imagine I have very little wall space that is not spoken for. I want to put my Cosmo where i can enjoy it every day, which does make me gravitate toward my kitchen! OMG I cannot believe you are going to redecorate around that cupcake! I am flabbergasted. 🙂 I love my piece, it’s just perfect, I love love love the spiral in the middle of the yellow circle on the lower flower, that one bit of sunshine is my focal point. The spiral reminds me of my favorite artist, Gustav Klimt and all his gold spirals. Thanks so much Ellen for a fantastic trade!

WOW….that is awesome. You two are so talented. I have done many canvases with papers. IT is so fun and theraputic. I don’t have a clue how to quilt thought. Your work is fantastic. Going to follow along.
    Hugs,
    Tara

What totally beautiful quilt work you do.
I’ve been doing paper painting for some time now and your work
reminds me very much of the same process.
You are both so lucky to have met and shared your passion. I’ve been
trading special art pieces with other artists for years and I know
what a great feeling it is to get another amazing work of art to add
to your collection, and to know the other artist is just as inspired
    by the work you created!
